“I was taken from my home and entered foster care when I was 14 years old. I lived in a group home until I aged out at 18. Two days before I was supposed to leave the group home, a bed opened up at Villages of Hope and I moved right in. While at Villages of Hope, I finished high school and started college. One of the staff taught me how to drive and I was able to get a job at Treasures for Hope Charity Store. I was one of their first employees. My job at Treasures taught me important skills and a strong work ethic. The people around me cared about me and encouraged me to apply for a home through Habitat for Humanity. I was one of 285 applicants for only 4 available homes. By the grace of God, I was accepted and I am a grateful homeowner! I recently received my Associate’s Degree in Social Work and I am a full time student working towards my Bachelor’s Degree. I also work part time at Place of Hope in the IT department. I love what I do, but most of all, I am grateful to be able to give back to those who helped me get to where I am today.”
